Serunai Commerce started its business as a commercial venture with strong determination to contribute to the economy and society in which it operates. Having strong interest in the Halal Industry, Serunai attempted to venture into Halal Industry with the advancement of technology it possesses.

Recognizing niche market for digital platform in the Halal Industry, Serunai took the initiative to be the first in developing a Halal centralized online hub, known as the Global Halal Data Pool (GHDP). The platform aims to serve thousands of Halal buyers and suppliers around the world via a single platform. With this, SMEs particularly can trade and sell their products to companies in other countries seamlessly.

With the easy spreading of fake Halal news in the industry, Serunai once again saw the opportunity to uplift the Halal Industry and at the same time helping brand owners to maintain their products’ Halal status. On 26 May 2017, Verify Halal App was introduced to local and international users. Receiving constant support from JAKIM, Verify Halal extends its reach to connect with 72 international Halal certification bodies recognized by JAKIM such as Japan, South Africa, India, Taiwan and Austria so users can instantly verify Halal status for international products with just a simple scan of barcode. The App is now used in more than 132 countries with nearly 100,000 downloads in just one year.

Receiving feedbacks and enquiries from international manufacturers regarding Malaysia Halal Certification, Serunai provides consultancy advice and Halal training programme for international applicants who wish to apply for Malaysia Halal Certification. This is meant to reduce the hassle that new applicants of Halal have to go through especially those from other countries such Taiwan and China.

Moving up further in Halal Industry, Serunai sets up supply chain division. The supply chain opened up new opportunity to small and medium enterprise, their products globally as it is Serunai’s responsibility to ensure that all goods are supplied and are certified halal by JAKIM or JAKIM’s recognised foreign halal certification body. International goods, manufacturers are welcomed to market their products with us as long as they meet the standard and certified halal.

Serunai Commerce launches blockchain-powered Halal Digital Chain (HADIC) Serunai Commerce, the developer behind the Global Halal Data Pool as well as the Verify Halal app, recently announced the launch of a blockchain-powered Halal digital chain, HADIC, which aims to create an integrated and secure digital halal ecosystem, seamlessly connecting components throughout the Halal value chain. The soft launch was inaugurated by Dato' Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, Director of Malaysian Halal Council, at Jakim’s HITeX zone during the 16th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2019 at MITEC.

HADIC will serve as the secure digital expressway that connects the numerous databases along the supply chain via multiple ledgers secured by blockchain, allowing users to leverage on the system’s secure connections and interface to easily join the global Halal digital chain.

Being connected to HADIC will also mean that providers of Halal products and services will be part of the Global Halal Data Pool, providing direct access to buyers and sellers in over 46 international markets. The system even integrates with the Verify Halal app which provides users with instant verification of a product’s Halal status as well as a fully traceable supply chain. Additional social elements such as geotagging, comments, ratings and data analytics will provide users with a fully integrated commerce and business intelligent network designed to easily navigate the digital Halal economy. Realising the vital role Serunai plays in helping Halal certification bodies worldwide, Certification Bodies Master System (CBMS™) was created to make Halal auditing process a walk in the park for auditors as a one stop solution to also reduce clutters and bulky documents. Serunai takes on their Halal technology exploration a step further with the launching of VH Smart to fully automate digital Halal certification system online by complimenting with the existing Certification Body Mater System (CBMS™).

VH Smart was created by Serunai in the same year to help brand owners adopt Halal certification through a more efficient administration of Halal assurance system (HAS) prior to the use of the Halal logo. This ensures the sanctity and purity of the Halal products and services produce by their respective manufacturers or operators. Under HAS, companies are systematically putting their whole manufacturing process to be monitored and scrutinised for any threat to Halal.
